The basic
auto motors
parts are cylinders and pistons. Various arrangements of cylinders
within engine define the type of engines like inline engines or flat
engines, V-engines. Besides cylinders and pistons, engines contain
different parts like -
- Piston rings – These rings act as a sliding seal between outer edge of piston and inner edge of cylinder.
- Spark plug – This plug supplies spark for fuel combustion.
- Valves – there are intake and exhaust valves letting air and fuel mixture in and out at proper time.
- Crankshaft – It makes pistons up and down motion to circular motion.
- Connecting rod – it connects piston to crankshaft.
- Sump – it is oil pan surrounding crankshaft and collects oil in its bottom.
